성공적인 음악수업은 교사의 재능과 더불어 적절한 교수·학습자료에 의해 이루어 질 수 있다. 학생들의 흥미와 관심을 반영하고 그에 따른 적절한 자료를 제시하면 보다 효과적이고 다가가기 쉬운 음악수업이 이루어질 수 있을 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 특히 초등학교 고학년들을 대상으로 하여 드럼세트를 활용한 음악지도 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 드럼은 큰북, 작은북, 트라이앵글, 탬버린, 캐스터네츠 등 교육과정에서 사용되는 모든 리듬악기들의 총집합이라고 볼 수 있으며 드럼세트 지도를 통해서 각자 따로 연주하던 다양한 리듬악기들의 역할과 특징을 동시에 습득하게 하고 다양하고 창의적인 패턴으로 노래에 맞추어 연주하게 함으로써 학생들에게 새로운 악기연주에 대한 흥미를 충분히 유발시킬 수 있다. 드럼세트를 이용한 음악지도라는 것이 생소하고 쉽게 접근하기 어려울 수 있으나 여러 타악기를 모아 놓은 것일 뿐이다. 본 연구가 교사와 학생에게 도움이 되기를 바라며 앞으로도 드럼과 더불어 보다 다양한 악기와 자료들로 유사한 연구가 많이 이루어지길 바란다.
A successful music class depends on teacher s talent and proper teaching/learning materials. By reflecting students interest and attention and presenting suitable materials accordingly, more effective and accessible music class is possible. Recently, multiple media have appeared. So have music devices that help use those media. However, it is hard to take in all of those diverse media as elementary music education is not much sophisticated, especially when the development of multimedia providing all the content of textbooks leads teachers and students to participate in instrumental music, demonstration performance and accompaniment less and less, which is a side effect. Thus, it is necessary to search for diverse methods with which teachers can display their abilities to guide students to join and enjoy musical activities. In that sense, this study is to present a method for teaching music using a drum set for upper elementary students. A set of drums includes large and small drums, triangles, tambourines and castanets, all of which are rhythmic instruments used in elementary curriculum. Using the drum set, students can simultaneously acquire roles and characteristics of diverse rhythmic instruments that they would play separately; play to various and creative patterns and songs; and become interested in playing new musical instruments. In addition to learning rhythms, a variety of activities are possible, for which proper methods and procedures are introduced here, focusing on using electronic drum module and midi to extend the functions of drums that are limited to rhythmic accompaniment and to broaden musical education. For the specific teaching plan, a wide range of literature review was conducted to describe the importance of understanding rhythms. Practice notes and descriptions used in actual teaching were presented after referring to several lesson books and expert advice. For students to acquire musical instruments step by step, they are led to make their own instruments after learning basics and active participation. Music teaching using a set of drums may sound unfamiliar and difficult to approach but, as aforementioned, it is a collection of several percussion instruments. Hopefully, this study will be helpful for both teachers and students, and similar but more in-depth studies on drums and more diverse musical instruments and materials will be made in the future.
