초등 사회과에서 역사적 관점을 활용한 다문화 이해 학습방안 연구

A Study on Learning Method of Multicultural Understanding from Historical Perspective in Elementary Social Studies

본 연구는 다문화사회에서 여러 문화를 은연중에 서열화하는 편견에서 벗어나고, 우리 문화와 다른 문화 사이의 차이를 인정하는 태도를 갖게 하는데 초점을 두었다. 이를 위해 사회과교육에서 역사적 관점을 활용한 다문화 이해 학습방안을 계발하고자 한다. 다문화 이해에 있어서 역사적 관점의 활용은 다양한 문화의 과거를 다룬다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 다문화 이해와 역사적 관점의 개념을 알아보았다. 이러한 개념을 기반으로 하여 다문화 이해를 위한 역사적 관점의 활용방안을 ‘편견 발견하기 - 차이 인정하기 - 문화의 보편성 이해하기’의 세단계로 구성하였고, 다문화가정이 아닌 일반 학생들을 대상으로 계획하였다. 이러한 학습의 효과와 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화사회에서 나타나는 문제점들의 근본적인 원인이라 생각되는 편견에서 벗어나고, 다른 문화를 객관적으로 바라볼 수 있는 시야를 기를 수 있다. 둘째, 극단적인 자문화중심주의에서 벗어나 보다 객관적으로 다른 문화를 이해할 수 있다. 셋째, 서구의 문화를 우수한 문화로 생각하는 문화사대주의에서 벗어날 수 있었다. 지금까지의 다문화에 대한 교육이 우리 사회에 다문화가정 및 외국인들의 적응을 위해서 실시되었다면, 본 연구를 토대로 다문화에 대한 교육이 대상이 일반 학생으로 바뀌어 다문화에 대한 편견을 줄이는데 활용될 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있을 것이다.

Thus, this thesis is to develop learning methods applying a historical perspective on multiculture understanding to social studies education that may get students to escape the prejudice ranking many cultures in a multicultural society and have an attitude to accept the differences between our culture and others. First of all, the concepts of multicultural understanding and historical preceptive are discussed here. Applying an historical perspective to multicultural understanding can cover the past of various cultures. Based on these concepts, this thesis consists of three stages, Finding Prejudice - Recognizing Difference - Understanding Cultural Universality, which apply historical perspective to the whole students multicultural understanding, not to multicultural families . The effects and implications of this teaching strategy are as follows. First, This enables the students look at different cultures on the objective point of view, not from their prejudice. Second, This enables the students understand cultures objectively not from ethnocentrism. Third, This enables the students break from cultural toadyism. Until now, multicultural education have been trained adapting multicultural families and foreigners to our society. But on the basis of this thesis, general students will be have multicultural education and it can help overcoming prejudices.
