나선형 순환학습을 이용한 야외 지질 학습 프로그램 개발 및 적용

Developing and Applying a Geological Field Trip Program Using the Spiral Learning Cycle : A Focussed on the Pochen Art Valley

이 연구의 목적은 나선형 순환학습을 이용하여 화강암, 풍화, 지질 구조에 관련된 개념을 학습할 수 있는 야외 지질 학습 프로그램을 개발하는 것이다. 연구를 통해 사전 준비 활동 6종, 야외 지질 학습 4종, 사후 정리 활동 4종, 제시 자료 2종의 총 16종 의 자료를 개발하였으며, 이를 2차에 걸쳐 적용한 후 설문 조사 및 면담을 실시하였다. 사전 준비 활동은 인지적, 지리적, 심리적 요인을 준비하여 생소한 경험의 공간을 줄이는데 도움이 되었다. 학생들은 야외 지질 학습 활동을 통해 교육과정에 포함 된 개념을 더 쉽게 이해하였으며, 야외 지질 학습을 흥미롭고 과학 학습에 유용하다고 판단하였다. 스마트패드가 관찰 내용 및 현상의 이해, 과학적 개념의 형성에 도움이 되어 학습 도구로서 활용이 가능함을 알게 되었다. 사후 정리 활동을 통해 학생들은 분절된 지식을 연결할 수 있었으며, 잘못 알고 있거나 유추한 사실들을 점검하여 과학적인 개념으로 변화하였고, 야외 지질 학습 프로그램 전체를 정리하여 종합적으로 사고할 수 있는 능력을 기를 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to develop a field trip program using the spiral learning cycle, which helps students learn concepts related to granite, weathering, and geological structures. On the basis of this study, a total of 16 learning materials (six activities for doing preparation, four for learning geological features, four for wrapping up, and two for presenting data) were developed. Students engaged in each activity twice. A survey and interviews were also conducted. The preparation activities take into account cognitive, geographical, and psychological factors, which help reduce the novelty space. A field trip for learning geological features can help students understand the concepts, which are a part of the curriculum, more easily. Thus, the field trip is considered to be interesting and useful for the students. Moreover, a smart pad can be used as an educational tool because it helps students understand the contents of observations and phenomena, and helps them to form scientific concepts. The wrap-up activities can help students connect fragmented knowledge and, better understand facts which were misunderstood or incorrectly inferred into scientific concepts. Therefore the field trip can increase the students abilities to think synthetically learning geological features.
