초등교사의 학습자 중심 수준별 영어 지도에 대한 실태 조사

본 연구의 목적은 제 제7차 초등학교 영어과 교육과정에 따라 시행된 초등교사의 영어 지도에 대한 의견을 조사하여 어떠한 문제점이 있는지를 파악하는 것이다. 더나아가서, 설문 응답을 기초로 하여 초등영어 교실에서 교사가 겪는 가장 큰 문제점과 그 해결책을 모색하고자 한다. 초등학교 3·4학년을 시작으로 2001학년부터 적용되기 시작한 제 제7차 교육과정은 수요자 중심, 즉 학습자 중심의 교육을 핵심으로 하며, 수준별 교육과정의 운영 등 이전의 교육과정과 큰 차이점을 보이고 있다. 그러나 현 교육과정에서 강조하는 수준별 교육은 현장교사들에게는 비현실적일 뿐 아니라 운영에 많은 어려움을 있다고 비판을 받아 왔다

The purpose of the present study is to survey the opinions of elementary school teachers who have been teaching English based on the 7th National Curriculum. Furthermore, through the analysis of the survey results, this research attempts to get several findings in the elementary classroom. This study used a questionnaire which was made up of 22 items for elementary school teachers. The 3rd and 4th graders have been taught by the 7th National Curriculum since 2001 and the Curriculum focused on Learner-centered Instruction and emphasized Differentiated Instruction that differ from former Teacher-oriented Instruction. But most teachers have reported many problems in reality and much difficulty to manage the program. Even though many attempts to adapt the 7th National Curriculum to the fields, the needs analysis of the fields would get us to find some kind of solutions. Teachers\ change of their recognition of the 7th National Curriculum would be required to have much time and effort. Among one item of 22 in questionnaire, the change rate of the teaching method is not so high(44%). This result means the change of the National Curriculum does not impact teachers\ teaching methods but teachers\ change of recognition, their passion for teaching students is more important for the change. The worst problem is to add up teacher\ s teaching time for Differentiated Instruction. And then, from this research we can talk about the followings: How do we develop text? Are there any ways to get the balanced grouping? How do we motivate our students? In short, for Differentiated English education, we need to try to downsize the classroom and expand the chances for teacher\ s in-service abroad for their English teaching ability.
