학습 맥락을 고려한 활동 중심 과학 수업의 효과

The Effects of Active-based Science Instruction considering Context of Learning

본 연구에서는 학습 맥락을 고려한 활동 중심 수업의 교수 전략을 구축하고, 이를 기반으로 개발된 프로그램을 수업에 적용하였을 때 이것이 과학과 관련된 학생들의 정의적 영역과 학업 성취도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지, 수업에 대한 학생들의 인식은 어떠한지를 알아보았다. 경기도에 위치한 중학교 3학년 남학생을 대상으로 ‘I. 자극과 반응, II. 물질의 특성, III. 일과 에너지’ 단원을 선정하여 25차시 수업 처치를 하였다. 학습 맥락을 고려한 활동 중심 수업을 실험 집단에, 전통적인 강의 중심 수업을 비교 집단에 처치하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학습 맥락을 고려한 활동 중심 수업을 한 학기 동안 지속적으로 제공한 실험 집단에서 과학과 관련된 학생들의 정의적 영역에 긍정적인 효과가 나타났다. 인식, 흥미, 태도 및 동기 하위 영역에서 모두 유의미한 효과를 나타냈다. 둘째, 학습 맥락을 고려한 활동 중심 수업이 학생들의 학업 성취도를 향상시키는 데 긍정적인 효과를 나타내었다. 셋째, 학습 맥락을 고려한 활동 중심 수업에 대한 학생들의 인식은 매우 긍정적이었다. 학생 스스로 의사소통 능력이나 적극적인 자세, 호기심, 자신감 등이 향상되었고, 과학 교과에 관심과 흥미가 높아졌다고 평가하였다.

This study focused on the development of an active-based teaching strategies considering the context of learning for middle school senior. On the basis of this teaching strategy, class materials were developed and applied on the science classes. Three components of the context of learning-problem presentation, problem inducement process, and independent problem formation-were considered. Class treatment were provided for 25 class hours on the selected units of ‘I. Stimulus and response’, ‘II. Characteristics of matter’, and ‘III. Work and energy’. Experimental and control groups were tested on the science-related affective domain and the academic achievement before and after class. The results of this study are as follows: First, the active-based teaching considering the context of learning have positive effects on the science-related affective domain, as for the sub-factors, ‘perception’, ‘interest’, ‘attitude’, and motivation. Second, the academic achievement of science course shows a positive improvement. Third, students’ perception was positive on the active-based teaching considering the context of learning. Students improved in communication ability, attitude, curiosity, self-confidence, and interest in the science class.
