본 연구는 초등학생의 자아존중감과 공감능력이 다문화 수용성에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위하여 경기도 소재 초등학생 407명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였으며, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생의 자아존중감, 공감능력과 다문화 수용성의 하위요인들 간에는 정적인 상관관계를 나타냈다. 구체적으로 살펴보면 자아존중감의 하위요인과 공감능력의 하위요인 간에 정적인 상관관계가 있어서 자아존중감이 높을수록 공감능력도 높음을 알 수 있었고, 자아존중감의 하위요인과 다문화수용성의 하위요인 간에도 정적인 상관관계가 있어, 자아존중감이 높을수록 다문화수용성도 높음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 공감능력과 다문화수용성간에도 정적인 상관관계가 있어, 공감능력이 높을수록 다문화수용성이 높다는 결과가 도출되었다. 둘째, 초등학생의 자아존중감과 공감능력이 다문화 수용성에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 살펴본 결과 유의미한 결과가 나왔는데, 공감능력이 자아존중감에 비해 다문화 수용성이 상대적으로 강한 설명력을 나타내었다. 이는 타인의 입장과 관점을 수용하고 이해하며 그들과의 의사소통 및 이타적 행동까지 포함하는 공감능력이 자아존중감보다 다문화 수용성을 설명력이 있는 요인임이 보여주었다. 본 연구는 이전의 다문화 수용성에 관한 연구에서 부족하였던 초등학생의 내재적 인 변인을 찾아 그 영향력을 알아봄으로써 다문화 수용성을 높이기 위한 교육을 하는데 기초자료를 제공하였다는 점에서 시사하는 바가 있다.

This study analyzed the relationship between self-esteem and empathy and acceptability of multicultural elementary school, and the self-esteem and empathy aims to investigate how it affects your multicultural acceptability.
