‘세 얼간이’와 ‘지상의 별처럼’에 나타난 교육에 대한 시선과 담론:

본 연구의 목적은 ‘세 얼간이’와 ‘지상의 별처럼’ 두 편의 영화에서 학교교육에 대하여 푸코의 분석적 틀로 살펴봄으로써 현재 학교교육의 문제점은 무엇인지, 이를 통해 앞으로 학교교육이 나아가야 할 방향은 무엇인지 논의하고자 한다. 분석대상은 ‘세 얼간이’와 ‘지상의 별처럼’ 두 편의 영화였으며, 분석방법은 영화 내용을 전사한 다음 연구내용에 따라 푸코의 권력이론에 근거할 수 있는 상황이나 장면, 의미 있는 대사들을 찾아내는 데 주력하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 학교가 개인을 수동적인 주체 로 만드는 ‘만들어지는 개인’, 학교라는 틀 속에서 시험이라는 이름으로 상징적 폭력을 정당화시키고 있는 ‘영혼까지 통제하는 상징적 폭력’, 절대 권력은 지식 안에서만 이루어질 수 있다는 ‘지식과 권력의 상호작용’으로 범주화되었다. 이를 통해 학교교육이 나아가야 할 방향으로는 첫째, 학생을 주체로 인식하고 대우해야 하며, 둘째, 학교에서 이루어지는 평가는 학생의 참모습을 드러내도록 해야 하고, 셋째, 교사, 부모, 학생은 자신의 주체성을 기를 수 있도록 노력해야 하는 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the way of looking at education and the meaning of it in two different movies, Three Idiots and Like Stars on Earth, according to Foucault s framework of analysis. It s basically meant to determine problems with today s education, to suggest some of the right directions for that, and to discuss what implications the films would have for early childhood education. The two selected movies were analyzed in the following process. The content of the films was transcribed, and then significant scenes, situations or lines that would be meaningful enough to be analyzed by Foucault s theoretical framework were selected and analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows: In the films, education could be categorized into three. One was to produce individuals who were to be made and consequently became passive. Another was a symbolic violence that was to keep even the spirit in control and was justified in the name of test within the frame of school. The third was the power and knowledge of interaction, which implied that absolute power could be guaranteed only within knowledge. The findings of the study suggest that it s required to look at the true meaning of education from a more extended perspective without being supervised, controlled or dominated by others.
