자발적으로 그린 유아의 그림에 관한 질적 분석

Qualitative Analysis of a Child’s Voluntary Drawings: Focusing on Infant-mother Relationship and Ideal Aspects

이 연구의 목적은 유아가 자발적으로 그린 그림을 통하여 엄마와 교감하고 소통 하고자 하는 양상과 더 나아가 그림을 통하여 표현하고자 했던 주요 측면(예, 세상에 대한 이상적인 부분 등)을 포착함으로써 유아의 세계를 이해하는 것이다. 연구 참여자인 지우는 스스로 그림 그리기를 좋아하였으며 자신이 그린 그림에 관하여 엄마에게 이야기해 주는 것을 즐겨하였다. 우리는 지우가 만 4살 반이었을 무렵인 2012년 봄부터 2013년 봄까지 그렸던 약 20개의 그림들을 수집하였고 2015년 5월 및 10월 사이에 엄마를 대상으로 지우가 그림을 그리던 상황에 대하여 회상 기반의 면담을 세 번 실시하였다. 질적 분석 결과 우리는 지우의 그림이 비약적으로 발전하는 양상 외에도 가족간의 소통을 매개해 주면서 교감하는 측면과 지우가 가족과 세상을 바라보면서 느꼈던 이상적 측면을 묘사하였다. 지우의 사례는 그림을 통하여 엄마와의 관계 속에서 가족을 대하는 태도와 느낌 외에도 세상에 대한 이상적 측면을 담고 있는 더 큰 전체성(larger wholes)을 보여주고 있다는 점에서 기존 연구와 차별화된다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the major aspects that an infant wants to commune with his mom what he drew voluntarily, and further to understand the infant by investigating unique aspects revealed within himself such as temper, attitude, ideals toward outside world etc. Jiwoo, a single participant to this study, loved drawing things and enjoyed talking about them to his mom. We collected his drawings from 2012 spring when 4 1/2 years old to 2013 spring and conducted interview with his mom three times between May and October 2015 probing her to talk about her feelings and situational contexts regarding any of his drawings. Based on qualitative data analysis, we depicted the clearly developmental patterns of passionate Jiwoo’s drawings, the communing aspects with his mom and his own ideals expressed within himself toward the outside world. This study is differentiated from other research in that Jiwoo’s case revealed his attitudes and feelings etc toward his mom and dad in the family relationship as well as larger wholes that contain his ideals toward outside world.
