국어과 교육과정에서의 ‘설명’ 개념과 양상 분석을 통한 설명 교육의 방향 고찰

설명은 세상과 세상이 돌아가는 방식을 이해하는데 필수적인 언어 기능이다. 설 명이 무엇인지 알기 위해서는 설명에 대한 철학적인 이해가 수반되어야 한다. 설명 을 철학적으로 살펴보면 서양철학에서는 설명이 연역적 모델, 확률적 모델, 기능론 적 또는 목적론적 모델, 발생적 모델 형태로 나타난다. 각 모델별로 특징이 있으나 이들의 특징을 종합하여 설명을 정의하면 설명은 대상의 본질을 명확하게 드러내고 그 속에 내재된 원인을 밝혀 법칙성을 정립하는 것이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 설명의 개념에 비추어 국어과 교육과정에서의 설명을 살펴보면, 전 교육과정에 걸쳐 설명과 기술의 경계가 모호하게 교육과정에 제시되었다. 그리고 설명을 위한 교수학습 내용 이 체계가 명확하지 않고 그에 따른 텍스트 제시도 장르로서의 설명과 양태로서의 설명의 구분이 분명하지 않다. 이를 위해 국어과 교육과정에서는 설명의 개념을 명 확히 하고 도구교과로서 위치를 곤고히 할 수 있도록 체계적인 교육과정을 구성하 여야 한다.
