현대 초등교육 관점에서의 국민교육의 의미 분석

A Study on the National Education in terms of Modern Elementary Education

본 연구의 목적은 현대 초등교육의 관점에서 국민교육으로서의 기본 성격을 살펴 보는데 있다. 국가가 추구하는 공적인 성격의 국민교육은 역사적으로 근대화의 과정 에서 국가의 존속, 자국의 발전을 위한 교육과 맥을 같이 하며, 근대국가 유지를 위한 국민 통합과 국가발전의 수단으로 공교육제도의 발달과 함께 교육의 보편화와 대중 화의 토대가 되었다. 그러나 국민을 양성하기 위한 목적은 교육을 통하여 국가 발전 의 수단적 역할이 강조된 문제도 있었다. 근대화 과정에서의 국민교육제도는 모든 국 민이 기본적인 국가 정체성을 함양함으로써 국가의 한 부분으로서 역할을 다하도록 하는 것이 중요했기 때문에, 현대 사회에서의 국민교육은 개인적 차원뿐 아니라 범인 류적 인간 형성에서 재해석할 필요가 있다. 국민교육으로서의 국민성, 정체성 그리고 동질성은 그 성격상 초등교육의 기본 성격으로 논의될 수 있다. 현대 사회에서 국민 교육은 한 개인의 성장과 발달을 통한 국가 차원의 가치 공유와 발전을 위한 교육으 로 이해되어야 한다.

The purpose of this paper is to review basic character of national education in terms of modern elementary education. The national education as public education that nation pursues, historically in the process of modernization, was with the education for nation s maintenance and development, and it became the basis for the popularization and universalization of education with development of public education system as means of the national integration and development for the modern state maintenance. But the purpose to cultivate the people has problem that focused instrumental role in the national development through education. In the process of modernization, because the national education system is important that it acts as a part of the nation by fostering fundamental national identity to all people, The national education in modern times is necessary to re-analysis, and national education can be discussed with basic character of elementary education in its nature. National education in modern society should be understand as education for shared values and development of national dimension through the individual growth and development.
