작품 중심 문학 교육의 의의와 방법

The Significance and Method of ‘Work – Based Literary Education’

현재의 초등학교 문학교육은 교과서 체제의 제약조건(목표중심 단원 구성 방식으로 인해 문학 교육의 본질에서 멀어져 있다. 필자가 ‘작품 중심의 문학교육’을 제안하는 이유는 문학 작품의 본질적인 아름다움과 감동을 학생들에게 체험시키기 위해서이다. 필자는 이 논문에서 작품 중심 문학교육의 의의를 탐구하고 그 구체적인 방법을 모색하려 하였다. ‘작품 중심 문학교육’은 온전한 문학 작품 한 편을 선정하여 학생들에게 그 작품의 아름다움과 감동을 충분히 체험하게 하는 교수 방식이다. 작품 중심 문학 교육의 의의는 삶의 총체적 이해, 문학적 문화의 고양, 수용자의 능동적 감상 촉진, 내면화 촉진 같은 문학 교육의 목적과 본질을 효과적이고 충실하게 달성할 수 있다는 것이다. 학생들은 온전한 문학 작품을 읽어야 작가의 세계관과 인물의 가치관, 삶의 전체성을 이해하게 되고, 심미적 정서를 함양할 수 있다. 작품중심 문학교육에서는 그 작품이 지니고 있는 가장 우수한 요소에 초점을 맞추어 수업을 해야 한다. 작품 중심 수업의 가장 효과적인 방법은 문학작품 토의하기 라고 할 수 있는데, 그 이유는 학생들 스스로의 반응과 사고를 촉진하기 위해서는 학생들이 말을 할 수 있는 기회를 주어야 하기 때문이다.

The reason why I suggest the ‘work-based literary education’ is because the ‘objective-oriented textbook structure’ is far from the essence of the literary education. Therefore, this thesis will seek the meaning and the method of the ‘work-based literary education.’ Following the ‘work-based literary education,’ educators choose one literature and let the students read the whole text. This is an effective teaching method that let the student experience the beauty and the impression of the literary work. The ‘work-based literary education’ is meaningful, because it can fully achieve the purpose and the essence of the literary education. While reading the literary work, discussing the author’s world-view, talking about the values that characters have, and sharing the impressive moments of the literature, students can understand the totality of life and cultivate an aesthetic feelings. In ‘work-based literary education,’ the most essential point is to let the student read the whole text of a literary work. Meanwhile, the class should focus on the prime and superior element of the literary work while reading and appreciating it. It is important to make sure the students understand and feel the most excellent and important element of the literary work.
