Purpose - The number of new employment in the tourism industry is continuously increasing due to the high employment effect of the tourism industry in Jeju. With the high employment effect of its tourism industry, Jeju experienced the nation s highest employment rate of 68.6% in 2016. However, the wage level in Jeju is poor. Wage is a representative variable for evaluating the quality of employment, but Pay satisfaction , which means satisfaction with wage, is more important than wage itself because the satisfaction level of the individual can be different even at the same wage level. In addition, even if the wage level is low, the quality of employment can be high when the pay satisfaction is high. On the contrary, if the pay satisfaction is low, the quality of employment can be low even if the wage level is high. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pay satisfaction according to wage level in order to evaluate the quality of employment recognized by employees of hospitality industry in Jeju. Research design, data & methodology - To evaluate the quality of employment recognized by employees of hospitality industry in Jeju, the pay satisfaction model for employees of hospitality industry and all industries in Jeju was developed and estimated using binary logistic regression analysis. Results - It was found that the pay satisfaction level of the employees in hospitality industry was lower than the employees in all industries at all wage levels. Namely, even with the same wage level, the employees in hospitality industry are less satisfied with their wage than employees in other industries. The wage level, which showed the highest difference in the pay satisfaction level between hospitality industry and all industries, was From 3 million won to less than 4 million won for both males(11.8%) and females(6.3%). Conclusions - The analysis results indicate that the pay satisfaction gap between employees in hospitality industry and other industries can be larger in terms of employment quality. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of employment in tourism industry, a policy that raises pay satisfaction more than the wage level itself is needed.
