예술작품을 통해 본 유아미술교육의 방향 탐색

An Educational Implication from Art Works to Improve Art Education for Young Children

본 연구는 예술장르중의 하나로서 미술은 예술가의 존재론적 의미를 드러내는 것이라면, 미술교육은 학습자로 하여금 예술가들이 하는 존재론적 체험을 할 수 있 도록 도와주는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 유아기의 미술교육도 예외는 아니며 어린시기 유아들의 미술 경험은 평생을 두고 예술가적 삶을 살도록 안내해 주는 것이 되어야 한다. 유아미술교육은 이러한 미술이 예술로서 가지는 본질과 교과로서 가지는 미술 지식을 동시에 담아내야 하는 복잡한 교과이며, 자칫 기능과 결과위주의 미술교육으 로 흘러가기 쉽다는 어려움을 가진다. 본 연구는 잘 알려진 예술작품에서 드러나는 예술가적 정신을 통해 예술교육이 가져야하는 본질과 의미를 되짚어 보고, 이를 유 아미술교육이 가진 문제와 한계를 진단하여 보다 바람직한 유아미술교육을 위한 교 육적 함의를 도출해 내고자 하였다. 예술작품이 예술가의 경험의 응축으로 존재론적 물음에 상상력을 동원하여 의미를 찾아 답하는 것이라면, 유아미술도 이러한 예술작 품이 가지는 본질을 더 충실히 반영하도록 노력해야 한다. 현재 유아를 위한 미술교 육은 보다 의미화된 경험을 제공하고자 예술가들이 탐색하는 보다 다양한 조형재료 를 통해 열린 상상과 의미세계를 경험할 수 있도록 안내해 가는 것이 필요함을 강 조하였다.

This study aims at extracting educational implications form art works in order to improve art education for young children. This study particularly focused on analyzing some famous art works to find out their existential meaning embedded in theme. Art education of early childhood is not an exception and experience in art of children in their childhood needs to guide for them to live artistic lives through their life. Art education of early childhood is a complex subject that needs to treat the essence of artistic value of art and knowledge of art at the same time, and it may easily flow in a direction of functional and results-oriented art education. This study was intended to retrace the essence and meaning that art education needs to have through artistic spirit through famous artworks, to examine problems and limitations of early childhood art education, and to deduce educational implications for more desirable art education for children. This study suggests that art education for young children should reflect what artists have done on their art work, which include utilizing a variety of art materials, using their kinetic sense coming from their life experience, and using artistic imagination to boost up symbolic representation on children’s art works. Conclusively, the arts works give us educational implication that art education should always reflect artist spirit, existential being, and meaning of experience.
