Effect of Multicultural Project using Smart Devices on Multicultural Sensitivity

본 연구는 스마트 기기를 활용한 다문화 프로젝트 수업이 초등학생의 다문화 감수성에 미치는 영향을 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2015년 3월부터 2016년 2월까지 스마트 기기를 활용한 다문화 프로젝트 수업을 개발하여 초등학교 6학년 학생 10명에게 적용하였다. 연구방법은 6학년이 한 학급인 소규모 학교라 양적연구를 바탕으로 질적 연구가 보조하는 혼합연구 방법을 사용하였다. 양적연구는 다문화 감수성을 사전․사후 검사로 비교 분석하였고, 사전검사에서 다문화 감수성이 낮은 3명의 학생을 수업 중 작성한 교수일지로 질적 분석하였다. 수업은 스마트 기기 사용 방법을 학습하고 다문화 프로젝트 계획을 수립한 후 스마트 기기를 활용해 다문화 프로젝트 발표 자료를 제작 및 공유하는 형태로 운영하였다. 양적 연구 결과 분석은 SPSS 23을 이용하여 대응표본 T-검정을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 스마트 기기를 활용한 다문화 프로젝트 수업은 초등학교 6학년 학생들의 다문화 감수성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며 다문화 감수성이 낮은 3명의 학생의 다문화 감수성이 모두 향상된 것으로 드러났다. 연구 결과는 스마트 기기를 활용한 다문화 프로젝트 수업이 초등학생들의 다문화 감수성을 향상시키는 효과적인 프로그램임이 증명되었으며, 향후 다문화교육 수업을 구안하는데 시사점을 제공하였다.

The purpose of this study is to confirm the effect of elementary school students multicultural sensitivity through the application of multicultural project classes using smart devices. The experimental class consisted of 10 sixth grade elementary school students that used smart devices. In the class, students learned how to use smart devices for the project, such as computer programs, applications, and so on. Then they discussed multicultural topics and planned their multicultural project in groups. Finally they made a multicultural project presentations such as poster, news, movie, using smart devices and shared them with another friends. The data was applied to paired sample T-test analysis to confirm significance between variables by using SPSS statistics 23. The results showed that the multicultural project classes using smart devices were a positive contribution to elevating multicultural sensitivity, especially in multicultural knowledge and multicultural interaction implementation. In the pre-test, three students measured very low in terms of multicultural sensitivity, so the students were observed by teachers using teacher journal. It showed that their multicultural action improved. Therefore, this study implies that the use of smart devices in the multicultural class and design are effective programs to improve elementary students multicultural sensitivity.
