인지활동 분석방법(CWA)을 이용한 학생들의 관찰활동 분석

Analysis of Students’ Scientific Observation Behaviors by Cognitive Work Analysis

관찰은 창의성 발현과 탐구 및 지식생성과정에 있어 기초적이며 매우 중요한 과정이다. 관찰활동을 하는 인간의 활동은 매우 복잡한 것이며 한가지의 변인으로는 그 현상을 충분히 설명할 수 없기 때문에 다차원적 ‘인지활동 분석방법(Cognitive Work Analysis, CWA)’이 등장하게 되었다. 이 연구의 목적은 인지활동 분석방법을 이용하여 고등학생들의 관찰 활동을 조사하며, 과학 관찰 활동에 대한 활동 분석 연구에서 CWA의 효과를 파악하는데 있다. 연구결과 학생들이 관찰하는데 있어서, 관찰 대상, 제공 시간, 평가 여부, 교사 변인 등이 정보활동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 고등학생들이 과학관찰 실험을 수행하면서 나타난 활동은 실험대상의 범위와 수준에 따라 크게 3가지로 구분되었다. 첫째, 주어진 실험대상에 변형이나 조작을 하지 않고 주어진 그대로 관찰하는 유형이다. 둘째, 자신감의 부족으로 인하여 관찰 내용과 과정에 대하여 교사나 다른 친구들의 의견을 물어가면서 관찰하는 유형이다. 셋째, 제시된 실험대상을 변형이나 조작하면서 관찰하는 적극적이고 능동적인 유형이다. CWA는 학생의 관찰활동을 조사하는데 효과적인 방법일 가능성을 보였으나, 관찰과 활동에 대한 복합적인 연구가 진행되고, 그러한 결과를 토대로 하여 관찰 수업을 기획한다면 더욱 실질적으로 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

Observation is the most basic and vital process for forming creativity and inquiry. The activity of observing is complicated, and it is hard to find the behavior by one variable; the method of Cognitive Work Analysis (CWA) is suggested for a multidimensional approach to understand one s work. The purpose of this study was to investigate the behavior of high school students and to find the effectiveness of the CWA in the behavior analysis for scientific observation. It was observed that students were influenced by subjects, time, evaluation, and teachers. There were three types of high school students observations for scientific activities: observed as what it is without any operations, observed as conforming with a teacher, and observed actively with various operations. The CWA can be used for the observation behavior research on the laboratory and education setting.
