과학 학습 효과 증진을 위한 차기 초등 과학 교과서 개선 방안

Suggestions for Improving the New Elementary Science Textbooks for Students\ Effective Science Learning

본 연구에서는 현행 제7차 과학 교육과정에 따른 초등 교과서 사용에서 나타난 문제점을 고찰하고, 차기 과학과 교육과정의 기본 취지와 목표에 부합되도록 새로 개발될 초등 과학 교과서의 개선 방안에 대해 논의하고자 하며, 초등학생들의 과학 학습 효과 증진을 위하여 교과서 개발 시 고려하여야 할 사항들에 대하여 제안하고자 한다. 제7차 교육과정을 실현하기 위하여 개발된 초등 과학 교과서의 운영 과정상에서 여러 가지 문제점이 발견되었다. 특히, 학교 현장에서 과학 교과서로 지도하는 초등 교사들의 만족도가 학년별로 다르게 나타나고, 난이도와 학습량, 과학 탐구 활동 지도 측면에서 학생들의 효과적 과학 학습에 어려움을 준다고 인식하는 것으로 조사된 선행 연구 결과들을 참고할 때, 차기 교육과정에 따른 새 과학 교과서를 개발, 운영 시 고려하여야 할 점들을 탐색할 수 있다. 초등학생들의 과학 학습 효과 증진을 위하여 교과서 개발 시 고려하여야 할 방안에 대하여 논의한다.

The purposes of this study are to examine some problems found in the process of using elementary science textbooks based on the 7th national science curriculum, to discuss the ideas for improving science textbooks to respond to the intent of the curriculum, and to suggest the possible ideas to consider in the process of developing the new textbooks for elementary students\ effective science learning. According to the elementary teachers, who used the textbooks in their classrooms, their degree of satisfaction about the textbooks tend to be low. In particular, in terms of the degree of difficulty, the amount of science learning, and scientific inquiry activity, their perceptions were various. Considering the current problems appeared, we make suggest the feasible plan to improve the quality of the textbook for improving students\ science learning.
