초등학생들의 생물다양성 인식에 대한 연구

The Study about Biological Diversity Awareness of Elementary School Students

이 연구의 목적은 초등학생들의 생물다양성 인식을 확인하는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 초등학교 3학년에서 6학년에 재학 중인 학생 225명을 대상으로 생물다양성 인식을 조사하였다. 생물다양성 인식을 확인하기 위한 도구로 개방형 질문지를 사용하였으며, 질문지는 생물다양성의 개념, 생물다양성 감소의 원인과 영향, 생물다양성 감소에 대한 해결 방안에 대한 질문으로 구성하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생들은 생물다양성을 동물의 다양성, 생물의 다양성, 그리고 종 다양성으로 인식하고 있었다. 특히, 생물의 개념을 동물과 식물, 그리고 인간을 중심으로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 생물다양성 감소의 원인으로 환경오염과 지구온난화(기후변화), 그리고 과도한 사냥을 가장 많이 답변하였다. 셋째, 생물다양성 감소로 인한 영향에 대한 질문에는 다른 종과 인류의 멸종을 예측하는 답변이 가장 많이 나타났다. 넷째, 생물다양성 감소에 대한 해결방안으로는 환경오염의 감소(해결)와 과도한 사냥 금지를 가장 많이 답변하였다.

The purpose of this study is to identify a biological diversity awareness of elementary school students. The target in this study is 225 students in 3rd through 6th grade. We used open-ended questionnaire about concept of biological diversity and cause, effect, and solution for biological diversity loss. Results are as follow. First, students understood the biological diversity as diversity of organism, living things, and species. Especially they recognized the concept of organism with animal, plant and human as the main idea. Second, they appreciated the cause of biological diversity loss as environmental pollution, global warming, and over hunting. Third, they guessed extinction of other species and human as an effect of biological diversity loss. Fourth, the most of answer about solution for biological diversity loss is about reducing environmental pollution and stopping over-hunting.
