인터넷 상의 언어학습자 문학(영어동화) 책 만들기(book-making)를 통한 초등영어 읽기능력 향상 연구

A Study on Improvement of Reading ability through book-making using English books on the Internet in Elementary School English classes

초등영어교육에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 문자중심 언어교육과 음성중심 언어교육 사이의 우선순위에 대한 갈등은 이후 학생들의 영어교육에의 흥미도 및 중학교에서의 영어교육 등에 지대한 영향을 미친다. 새로운 교육과정에 따르면 현재 문자교육의 단계가 3학년 2학기로 조정한 점은 갈등을 어느정도 신속하게 해결하려는 노력의 일환이라고 하겠다. 우리와 같은 EFL상황에서의 영어교육의 효과적인 한 방법이 읽기 교육을 강조하는데 있음은 어느 정도 인식되어지고 있는데, 본 연구는 학생들의 접근이 용이하고, 많은 자료를 찾을 수 있는 인터넷의 동화자료를 이용하여 storytelling 등 여러 가지 방법으로 학습한 후, 책 만들기(book-making)란 최종 학습 작업을 통하여 읽기 능력의 향상을 측정해보려는 것이다. 실험 결과읽기 자료 찾기부터 책 만들기까지의 일관된 학습이 학생들의 정의적 영역에 대한 영향뿐만 아니라 초기 문자교육의 어려움을 어느 정도 해소해 줄 수 있으리라는 가정을 일 정 부분 충족시켜 준다고 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to improve reading ability, participation, interest, confidence of students after they read English books on the internet, make books, and then do reading activity with their own books. The object of the study is 24 students in one class of the fifth grade at an elementary school situated in Danwol myeon, Yangpyong county, Kyonggi province. We have taught lessons using every Friday\ s discretionary hour during 22 hours. The concrete object to achieve the above purpose is as follows. First, how will reading activities through making English books affect the reading ability of students? Second, how will reading activities through making English books affect the affective domain of students? Third, does the activity of making books contribute to the improvement of the reading ability of students? After finishing the study, We reached the conclusion as follows. First, the activity of making English books through the internet showed that the reading ability of students, who was familiar with internet, improved. Second, the reading class through making English books helped students make the meaningful result of the affective domain. Third, like we have seen from the result of pretest and posttest of reading, the activity of making books through using English books on the internet showed that it gave the positive effect to the reading ability of students.
