Recently, the global rise of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and its potentially devastating consequences require a comprehensive regulatory framework for reducing emissions. First of all, bioenergy technologies have been promoted as a means for reducing the carbon intensity of the transport sector. Hence, in the last decade bioenergy production has been driven by governmental policies. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) as a biofuels mandate policy is a requirement on transport fuel suppliers to ensure that some volume of all road vehicle fuel is supplied is from sustainable biofuels. In Korea, RFS policy as a biofuels mandate system will be also introduced to on transport fuel suppliers as an obligation blender to blend 2.5% of biodiesel in automotive diesel from 2015. In this study, application of bioalocohol fuel with composition of ethanol and butanol as a new biofuels for GHG reduction on transport sector in Korea. We investigated fuel characteristics and vehicle emission with E6 level to blend ethaonol and butanol in gasoline.
