A convenient procedure for the synthesis of anionic surfactants has been studied. It has been improved preparation of the alkyl allyl ether by using fatty alcohol such as dodecyl alcohol. Due to the increase of the potential use of it, anionic surfactants has been investigated for applications of detergent for family use. The present study aims to investigate the role of properties of anionic surfactants containing sulfonates. The surface tension values was 25 to 39 dyne/cm. The minimum areas per molecule (A min) were 1.41, 1.3, 1.06, and 0.82nm². A min decreases with increasing the alkyl chain length at the surfactants. The synthesized anionic surfactants have been tested to critical micelle concentration, emulsion stability, and foaming property.
