국가 교육과정 체제에서 과학 고등학교 교육과정 편성ㆍ운영의 개선 방안 탐색

A study on the improvement of the organization and implementation for curriculum in science high schools

본 연구는 현행 국가 교육과정 체제 내에서 과학 고등학교의 교육과정 편성과 운영에 대한 문제를 살펴보고, 개선 방안을 탐색한 것이다. 이를 위해 첫째, 과학 고등학교가 고등학교 다양화 체제에서 어떠한 위치를 점하고 있는가를 확인하고, 이에 따라 교육과정은 어떠한 방향으로 개선되어야 하는지 논의하였다. 둘째, 과학 고등학교 교육과정의 법적인 근거와 국가 교육과정에 제시된 내용을 검토하였다. 그리고 교육과정의 편성과 운영에서 제기되고 있는 문제를 분석하였다. 셋째, 이들 논의를 토대로 개선 방안을 모색하였다. 개선 방안은 법과 제도적 측면, 국가 교육과정의 측면, 그리고 대학과의 연계 체제 측면에서 살펴보았다. 논의 결과 과학 고등학교는 영재학교에 속하지 아니하면서도 이에 준하는 내용으로 되어 있어, 국가 차원에서 법적으로 이를 진흥할 수 있는 방안을 마련하고, 교과서에 대한 사항 역시 마찬가지로 존재하였다. 국가 교육과정에서는 교육부 내의 관련 부서간의 협력 체제의 구축과 더불어 교육과정 문서에 과학 고등학교의 지침이 적시되거나 예외사항으로 하는 방안 등을 제시하였다. 대학과의 연계 측면에서는 AP담당 교원의 자격문제를 석사학위 소지가 중요한지, 경력이 중요한 것인지에 대한 검토가 필요하였고, 대학이 고등 교 교육과정의 정상적 운영을 저해할 수 있는 부분에 대해서는 국가적 차원의 대책이 요구됨을 확인하였다.

This study is an attempt to improve the organization and implementation for curriculum in science high schools. For this end, first, the position of science high schools is discussed. Science high schools emphasize the inquiry areas and science subjects. And schools comply with national curriculum. The improvement directions of the curriculum are abide by the guideline of national curriculum, conform to the elementary and secondary education act, and possession of the professional autonomy. Secondary, issues of organization and implementation for curriculum are discussed. The legal grounds of curriculum is article 23 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and curriculum guidelines for special-purpose high schools are fixed by the national curriculum documents. Problems are policy of science high schools, curriculum guideline, content of national curriculum, between the university and science high schools. Third, the improvement of the curriculum in science high schools is discussed. The objects of research associated with the organization and implementation for curriculum in science high schools are policy and laws, national curriculum, between the university and science high schools. In conclusion, it is necessary to in-depth study of the redesign of the organization and implementation for curriculum on science high schools.
