The Ecological Variation of Yield and its Related Characters among the Spring Barley Varieties under the Different Growing Season

21 spring barley varieties were sown 3 times with 15 day interval: 5th March, 20th March, and 5th April in 1974. Yield and its related characters were examined. Delayed sowing time had delayed the heading date and shortened the days from seeding to heading and maturing days. Remarkable shortening in days from the seeding to heading were found in many late varieties. Early and late sowing had shortened the culm length in many varieties, and late sowing decreased straw weight per 10a. Delaying of sowing date had resulted in decreased yield per 10a except 13 varieties those which had the highest yield in ordinary time sowing plot. The number of heads per 1㎡, the number of grains per head, and the percentage of fertility were decreased by late sowing. The number of heads per l㎡ devoted directly to the yied. By late sowing 1000 grain weight was decreased except 13 varieties those which had heavier grain weight in ordinary time seeding plot than in early sowing plot.
