This study was carried out to analyze the leafisozyms in Chamaecyparis pisifera and its varieties, C. obtusa, Thuja orientaris, and T. occidentalis, by the starch gel electrophoresis. The results obtained were as fallows: 1. The two varieties, Chamaecyparis pisifera var. plumosa and C. p, var.squarrosa, were closely related with the arrangement of isozyms bands and its special bands, and they are more related with the Chamaecyparis pisifera than C. p. var. filifera. 2. Chamaecyparis obtusa is extremely different from the C. pisifera and its varieties. 3. The common bands of Thuja orientaris and Thuja occidentalis were at the spot of -40, and the latter was more variational species than the former. In conclusion, this study may be a contribution to taxonomy of woody plant because of the results obtained, when I examined the relationships among some of species and varieties of Chamaecyparis pisifera in Cupressaceae.
