In order to examine distributions of the alcohol dehyrogenase (ADH) alleies in the Korean strains of Drosophila melanogaster, the ADH genotypes of 13 strains (12 Korean strains and one standard wild type, Oregon-R) of the species were studied by the agarose gel electrophoresis and the results obtained are given below: 1) Distributions of the ADH genotypes are variable among the Korean strains of Drosophila melanogaster. 2) The ADH alleles arc polymorphic in some st rains but monomorphic in the other strains of D. melanogaster in Korea. 3) The FF genotype is most frequently involved in many strains of D. melanogaster in korea. 4) The significant difference of distributions of the ADH genotypes is not seen between in males and in females.
