The purpose of the present investigation is to examine distributions of α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase (α-Gpdh) genotypes in the Korean strains of Drosophila melanogaster. The experiment was done on the Korean 12 strains of the species by means of the agarose gel electrophoresis. The results obtained is presented below: 1. Distributions of α-Gpdh genotypes are variable among the Korean strains of D. melanogaster. 2. Many Korean strains of D. melanogaster show polymorphic as to α-Gpdh alleles whereas only two strains, monomorphic. 3. The SS genotype is most frequently involved in the Korean strains of D. melanogaster, the next frequent one, the FF genotype and the least frequent one, the heterozygote(FS). 4. The significant difference of distributions of α-Gpdh genotypes is not found between in males and in females of the species.
