대학의 동료 튜터링(peer tutoring)프로그램에서 튜티가 인식한 튜터의 역량 수준이 튜터링 성과에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Tutees Perceived a Tutor Competency Level on Learning Outcome in Peer Tutoring Program

본 연구는 대학의 동료 튜터링 프로그램에 참여한 튜티가 인식하는 튜터의 역량 수준이 튜터링 성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이에 서울 소재 대학교의 교수학습개발센터에서 진행하는 2010-2011학년도 동료 튜터링(peer tutoring)에 참여한 140명의 대학생을 대상으로 튜티들이 인식하는 튜터의 역량 수준, 동료 튜터링 프로그램 성과 및 프로그램 만족도에 대한 자료를 수집해 회귀분석을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 튜티에 의해 인지된 튜터의 역량 수준은 튜터링의 만족도와 학습자가 인식한 튜터링 학습성과에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 튜터의 지식과 태도 수준은 튜터링 프로그램의 만족도와 학습자가 인식한 튜터링 학습성과에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 규명되었다. 특히 튜터의 태도 수준은 지식 수준 보다 튜터링 프로그램의 만족도와 학습자가 인식한 튜터링 학습성과에 상대적 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구는 대학의 동료 튜터링 프로그램에서 학습 효과에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 튜터의 역량 변인을 체계적으로 확인하고, 튜터링의 학습성과 제고 및 프로그램의 질적 관리를 위한 시사점을 제시하고 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of tutees perceived a tutor competency level on learning outcome in peer tutoring program. The subjects were 140 students participated in peer tutoring program during three semesters of 2010 and 2011 at a university in Korea. The survey tool was developed to collect data on perceptions of tutor competency level, learning outcome, and satisfaction with the tutoring program and the data were analyzed by regression analysis. Results can be summarized as follows: First, tutees perceived a tutor competency level have a significant influence on tutees satisfaction and perception of learning outcomes. Second, a tutor’s knowledge and attitude level were found to be variables affecting tutees satisfaction and perceived learning outcomes. The result also indicates that tutees satisfaction and perceived learning outcomes are more influenced by a tutor’s attitude level than knowledge level. From the results, this study provides educators useful information for understanding of tutor competency as a critical variable affecting learning outcomes. This study is expected to be utilized as a basic reference for promoting and developing outcomes of peer tutoring programs in higher education.
