일반고등학교 학생 대상 미술영재교육 프로그램에 대한 질적 탐구

Qualitative Inquiry on the Gifted and Talented Art Education Program for General High School Students

본 연구의 목적은 일반고등학교 학생들이 왜 미술영재교육 프로그램에 참여하는 지와 그곳에서 무엇을 경험하는지를 확인하고 이해하는 데 있다. 이 연구는 내러티브(narrative) 탐구방법에 근거하여 일반고등학교 학생들의 미술영재교육 프로그램 참여 동기와 그곳에서 겪은 인상 깊었던 학습 경험을 이야기하도록 하여 그 이야기를 수집하고 이야기를 통해 생성되는 의미, 즉 이야기된 지식을 탐구하는 데 중점을 두었다. 연구 결과, 학생들의 미술영재교육 프로그램 참여 동기는, 다양한 미술 활동 경험과 진로 선택에 도움을 받고자 하는 것이었다. 또한, 참여 활동 내용이 학교생활기록부에 기재됨으로써 진학에 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있었으며 사교육비를 절감하고자 참여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 학생들은 다양한 미술 학습경험을 통해, 미술에 대한 인식과 경험을 확대하고 몰입을 통한 성취감과 함께 스트레스에 대한 자기 치유과정을 거치고 있으며 미술에 대해 스스로 깨우치며 자기 효능감과 자기 주도성을 가지는 것으로 드러났다. 이와 같은 결과는, 미술영재교육 프로그램에서의 다양한 경험이 미술에 있어서 창의적 발상과 표현력 향상 방법을 스스로 터득하게 하는 내적 성장의 기회를 제공하고 있으며 진로를 결정하는데 영향을 끼치고 있음을 나타낸다.

This study aims to determine and understand why general high school students participate in the gifted and talented art education program and what they experience there. This study focused on collecting the high school students stories by having them tell their motivations to participate in the gifted and talented art education program and impressive learning experiences that they had there, and examining the meanings created by the stories, i.e., storied knowledge on the basis of narrative inquiry. According to the results of study, students motivation to participate in the gifted and talented art education program was intending to receive help in various art activity experiences and career choice. Besides, as the contents of participation activities were entered in the school life records, they expected that it would be helpful in going on to the next stage of their education. And it was shown that they participated so as to reduce private education expenditure. It was found that, through various arts learning experiences, students expanded awareness and experience of arts and underwent a process of self-healing against stress together with a sense of accomplishment through immersion, and awakened to arts by themselves, and had self-efficacy and self-initiative. The above results show that various experiences provide an opportunity of inner growth that allows them to learn a method of improving the ability to express themselves and creative ideas in arts by themselves, and have an effect on career decision.
