Analysis of Gene Action for Several Characters in Common Wheat

Genetic analysis was conducted by using Shatcher substitution lines of 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D, and 7D into Chinese Spring to know their effect on several characters. Flag leaf length was decreased significantly by 2D in its expression, flag leaf width decreased by 4D and 7D, respectively Spike length was decreased significantly by 4D and 7D in its expression and its F₁ was completely dominant. The value of narrow-sense heritability was 0.4596. Culm length was decreased significantly by 3D in its expression and its F₁ was over-dominant. The value of narrow-sense heritability was 0.3043 and the dominant gene showed positive a effect on its expression. Number of tiller was decreased siginificantly by 3D in its expression and its F₁ was completely dormant. The narrow-sense heritability for this was 0.6075. 1,000-grain weight was increased significantly by 1D.
