Genetic Studies on the Characters of Broadbean by Diallel Cross

These studies were conducted to obtain basic information for the efficient broad bean breeding. Six parents and their 15 F₁ crosses were used for detecting gene distribution and evaluated for 10 agronomic characters such as days to flowering, days from flowering to maturity, days to maturity, stem diameter, branch numbers per plant, stem length, pod numbers per plant, grain numbers per pod, 100 grain weight and grain weight per plant. Over dominances were exhibited by days to flowering, days from flowering to maturity, stem diameter, grain numbers per plant and grain weight per plant, while partial dominance by days to maturity, branch numbers per plant, length of stem and 100 grain weight per plant and complete dominance by pod number per plant.
