Local Variation of Genetic Parameters Estimated on Major Agronomic Characters for Sesame Varieties

This experiment were carried out to study the local variaiton of genetic parameters estimated on major agronomic characters with 12 varieties at six locations; Hwa-Seong, Cheong-Ju, Yu-Seong, Chil-Gok, Jin-Ju and Mok-Po. Heritabilities of maturing date, length of stem with capsule, number of seeds per capsule were high with low local variation, and that of length of plant, flowering date were middle grade with high local variation, but that of weight of 1,000 grains, yield were low with high local variation. Genotypic correlation coefficients between length of plant and length of stem with capsule, length of stem with capsule and number of capsule per plant, number of capsule per plant and weight of 1,000 grains, weight of 1,000 grains and yield were highly positive. Local variations of these correlation coefficients was low but those of others were high. Most of path-coefficients between yield components showed large local variations and highly direct effective characters an yield were number of capsules per plant, weight of 1, 000 grains, number of grains per capsule.
