Diallel Cross Analysis of Fruit Charcter in Red Peppr

Eight parents of red pepper were crossed in all possible combinations, excluding reciprocals. The percent of heterosis and heterobeltiosis, general and specific combing ability, the degree and direction of dominance, and heritability for fruit length, width, pericarp thickness, and pericarp weight were evaluated. The highly significances were observed in all characters of F₁s by analysis of variance. Fruit length, pericap thickness, and pericarp weight in mean of all F₁s were significantly higher than those of the parents. Average heterosis appeared in positive direction, but average heterobeltiosis was negative in all characters. General combining ability was larger than specific combining ability. Partial dominance was observed in fruit length, width, fresh pericarp thickness, and fresh pericap weight, complete dominance in dry pericarp thickness, and overdominance in dry pericarp weight. High heritabilities were observed in all characters.
