The heritabilities, genetic correlation coefficients and path-coefficients on agronomic characters and chemical compositions were estimated for thirty-five anther-derived dihaploid families from single cross F₁ “Serres” x “Sohyang”(Nicotiana tabacum L.). Dihaploids exhibited increased vigor and growth when compared with the mid-parent value but had reduced leaves per plant, and the ranges of dihaploids characters were deviated more than those of their parents. Heritabilities of days to flowering, plant height, leaves per plant, ratio of leaf length and width, nicotine, reducing sugar and yield appeared high value, while those of leaf length and leaf width were low. The genetic correlation coefficient between yield and nicotine of dihaploids was -0.3364 which was significantly lower than those of conventional varieties, -0.52 to -0.93, indicating that a high yielding variety having high nicotine can be obtained from the haploid breeding method. The correlation coefficients of other characters of diploids were similar to those of conventional varieties and lines. Path-coefficient analysis of genetic correlation coefficients showed that leaves per plant and leaf length have direct effect on yield, and days to flowering, plant height and leaf length have high indirect effect on yield.
