Present studies were carried out to investigate the ecological characteristics such as sporangiums, spores and gametogenesis in the genera of Campanulaceae using four species, Codonopsis lanceolata, Platycodon grandiflorum, Campanula punctata and Adenophora triphylla. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The sequence in the formation oi sporangiums and spores were C. punctata, A. triphylla, P. grandiflorum and C. lanceolata. 2. The shape of egg cells and synergids of C. punctata, A. triphylla and C. lanceolata were corpulent, while those of P. grandiflorum was thin and long. C. lanceoLata showed the largest in the size of embryosac and next P. grandiflorum, A. triphylla, and C. punctata. And in the size of nucellus cells, the thickest, P. grandiflorum and the thinnest C. lanceolata. 3. The egg-cell and synergids in C. punctata, A. triphylla and C. lanceolata were corpulent and placed near to the micropyle as well, but those of P. grandiflorum were placed long from the center of embryosac to micropyle. 4. The microspore was formed comparatively earlier than the mi crospore, and pollen-grain gets matured three days earlier before flowering. The earliest is P. grandiflorum and the others similar one another in the sequence of formation of spores. 5. According to the embriological characteristics, C. punctata was the closest to C. lanceolata and the next, A. trihylla, but P. grandiflorum was not in the close relation to C. lanceolata.
