In Japan, markets have become vibrant due to changes in M&A-related systems, deregulation, and management perception of M&A. M&A activities of Japanese companies by foreign companies were mostly in the US and UK, but in recent years, M&A of Japanese companies have taken place in emerging countries such as China is also increasing. In the past decade, China has been actively taking over Japanese companies due to their vast financial resources. The main reasons for China’s successful M&A activities in Japan include securing sales channels in the Chinese domestic market, demanding that Chinese companies meet the needs of Korean companies and strengthening cooperation with financial agents in Japan. In the case of Korean companies, M&A is required for Japanese companies that have original technology to secure production bases and advanced technologies. In particular, the Korea-Japan M&A needs to be activated to ensure global competitiveness in the new economy. The purpose of this study is to find ways to activate M & A through an analysis of M&A cases of Japanese companies in order to strengthen competitiveness in the global market.
