Blast resistance of alien chromosome addition lines of paddy rice

Vertical and horizontal resistance were tested with alien chromosome addition lines(ACALs, 2n=25) and disomic lines(DLs, 2n=24) from the cross, [Sekitori(4X)×Lead-rice(2X)]× Sekitori(2X). The Lead-rice is resistant to rice blast. Among the tested seventy-one ACALs, thirty-two ACALs showed horizontal resistance. Noticeably, L004 which showed horizontal resistance was found to be vertical resistance to all the six strains of T-2, C-1, N-2, T-2+t, C-8+t and N-2+t. Twelve ACALs showed intermediate resistance to some of the strains and resistance to other strains. Among the twenty-one DLs, six DLs showed horizontal resistance. And two DLs, L092 and L242, which showed horizontal resistance were vertical resistance to all the six strains.
