Anther culture of Chinese cabbage(brassica campestris pekinensis) Ⅰ. Production of plants through embryogenesis of microspore

The anther culture of heading Chinese cabbage, Brassica campestris ssp. pekinensis, was carried out. Anthers in the uni-and/or bi-nucleate stage of microspores were inoculated on the modified B₅ medium for inducing embryoids from microspores. Upon inoculation, anthers were treated with different high temperature for different periods prior to transfer to the chamber of 25℃ and the dark condition. Among the treatments, only the 35℃-1 day treatment was effective in developing embryoids from microspores. Embryogenic anthers were subcultured immediately on the medium of plant hormone free and low sucrose content of the embryoid induction one. Plantlets were obtained after several weeks culture.
