This experiment was conducted to obtain a basic information for breeding wheat lines which have better germinability. For the study of water absorption patterns as affected by germination temperature and storage period after harvest, various wheat cultivars such as small grained and mealy, and large grained and semi-glassy types were used. Thirty days stored seeds after harvest showed faster moisture absorption within one hour but slower since then, however, Ninety days stored seeds showed contrary absorption pattern. Small grained and mealy type cultivars: Olmil, Cheonggaemil, and Dahongmil, were higher in water absorption rate than the large-grained and semi-glassy type cultivars: Chokwang, Naemil, Grumil, Saemil, and Eunpamil. The Longer the storage days after harvest, the better initial germination rate, germintion speed and uniformity, but the shorter germination time were observed, regardless the germination temperature. Average germination time in lower germination temperature of 17℃ was 4.2 days and 4.0 days in higher germination temperature 25℃. The germination unformity was observed as better with longer storage of 90 days after harvest compared with shorter storages, and also better uniformity was resulted at 17℃ germination temperature than 25℃. There were no significant difference among seed storage time after in final germination rate at lower germination temerature of 17℃, but longer storage seeds showed higher germination rate at 25℃.
