Improved rapeseed varieties with zero-erucic acid have been grown in the main production areas of Korea since 7-8 years ago. However, the rapeseed oil produced in 1986 in the above area contained 11-47 percent by investigating each seed multiplication step and isolation distance with high erucic acid and low erucic acid varieties. There was no evidence of out-crossing between the high and low erucic acid varieties. The first problem was of contamination of the voluntarily survived plants with high erucic acid recommended before releasing zeroerucic acid varieties. A second was to be still grown the high erucic acid varieties using farmers’ own seed produced. The standing density of voluntary plants was 45-1572 plants per m² due to the different threshing conditions. The voluntary plants were completely eliminated by applying contact herbicide paraquat two times. The contact herbicide application was very effective to protect the contaminations of high erucic acid to zeroerucic acid plants, and to preserve the oil and meal quality of double low rape-seed.
