Floral bud differentiation, meiosis, flowering habit and morphological characteristics were investigated to obtaine basic information for the breeding of Lycoris squamige cultivated and Lycoris aurea and Lycoris radiata volunteered in Korea. The leaves of L. squamige and L. aurea, and L. radiata were emerged on March and September and those were blighted on the late May and the late Aprial of next year respectively. The floral buds of L. squamige, L. aurea and L. radiata were respectively differentiated in the bulbs from 90, 50 and 35 gr up, with 9, 8, and 6 leaves or more on from May 5th to 25th, from May 10th to 25th and from May 30th to June 20th. And also their meiosis times were from June 8th to 16th, from June 15th to 25th, and fromJuly 5th to 30th respectively. The chromosome numbers of L. squamige and L. aurea were mostly n=11 and few monovalent or tetravalent chromosome were observed while those of L. radiate were mostly monovalent, tetravalent or hexavalent chromosome and normal ones (n=11 or n=22) were hardly observed because of it was triploid (2n = 33). The flowering times of L. squamige, L. aurea and L. radiata were around Aug. 8th, Aug. 25th and Sep. 17th respectively.
