Effects of media on plant regeneration in rice anther culture

This experiment was carrried out to know the effect of media on the plant regeneration in rice anther culture. Average callus induction rate on N6 medium was higher than that of N6D, and the variety TCP156 and T1668 showed relatively vigorous callusing compared to Taipei309. Average green plant frequency on modified MS medium was higher than that of N6 and regeneration rate was extremely low in T1668. Modified MS medium increased regeneration frequency regardless of the kinds of callus induction media. Regeneration in T1668 was markedly improved when ABA(25 ppm) was added on the callus induction medium followed by modified MS medium for plant regeneration.
