Present works were attempted to investigate the relationships of Chinese chives grown wild or cultivated in Korea by means of morphological, ecological, embryological, and taxonomical methods. Among Chinese chives grown wild or cultivated in Korea, Allium splendens, A. thunbergii, A. sacculiferum, A. senescens, A. deltoide-fistulosum, and A. odorum(Chinese chive cultivated) were examined. The seed-setting of wild species in nature were more than 83%, but that of Chinese chive cultivated were 58.8%. In case of reciprocal crossing among 5 wild species, the seed-setting of crossing between A. thunbergii and A. senescens was the highest as 50.6 to 67.9%, but those of crossing between A. thunbergii and A. splendens or between A. senescens and A. splendens were different greatly. A. senescens is closely related from A. thunbergii but have little relation from A. splendens, A. deltoide-fistulosum, and A. sacculiferum. The meiosis of mega and microspore mother cells are normal. Embryo sacs with complete egg apparatus in wild species were ranged from 85 to 95%, but in Chinese chive cultivated was 72%. Complete pollen grains in wild species were ranged from 93% to 98%, but in Chinese chive cultivated was 80%. The chromosome numbers of Chinese chives grown wild or cultivated were counted to n=8 or n=16 at the meiosis of megaspore mother cells. One nucleus exists in the synergids of wild species, but two nuclei exist in those of Chinese cultivated.
