Characteristics and regeneration of crown gall tumor callus derived from nicotiana tabacum L. haploid plant

This study was carried out to investigated the capability of teratoma formation, regeneration and characteristics of crown gall tumor callus induced by infection of Agrobacterium tumefaciens C58 in Nicotiana tabacum L. haploid plant Tobacco haploid plant infected with Agrobacterium tumefadens C58 formed crown gall tumor, but teratoma and secondary tumor were not formed. And corwn gall tumor tissue could be cultured on the phytohormone free medium. Growth of haploid tumor callus was increased on the medium contained with exogenous phytohormone. Haploid tumor callus could from the shoot on the medium with BAP, but diploid tumor callus did not form it. Regenerants induced from tobacco haploid tumor callus were classified into three groups; plantlet with root, plantlet without root, and plantlet with rootlet and callus mass.
