Karyotypes of the wild species of Allium collected from 9 locations in South Korea were studied. The sizes of somatic chromosomes of A. anisopodium (Sogri Mt,), A. cyaneum (Daegyu Mt.), A. deltoide-fistulosum (Segeol Mt.), A. sacculiferum (Heugsan Is.), A. cyaneum (Jiri Mt.) with 2n=16 were ranged from 7.3μm to 13.2μm, 8.8μm to 12.6μm, 7.8μm to 11.2μm, 7.3μm to 12.6μm, 7.3μm to 12.2μm and 3.9μm to 11.5μm respectively, and those of A. victorials (Ulreung Is.), A. senescens (Pyochung Tem.) and A. thunbergii (Seonun Tem.) with 2n=32 were ranged from 9.2μm to 13.6μm, 6.8μm to 13.6μm and 7.6μm to 12.7μm respectively. Also the subterocentric (2n=16), less than 33% of arm ratio, existed in the E and F chromosomes of A. cyaneum (Daegyu Mt.) D chromosomes of A. sacculiferum and G chromosomes of A. cyaneum V. deltoides. Others were metacentric or submetacentric chromosomes. In the species with 2n=16 one pair of satellite chromosome was found in the A chromosomes of A. anisopodium, A and C chromosomes of A. cyaneum (Daegyu Mt.) and D chromosomes of A. deltoide fistulosum respetively, but it considered to be exist a half pair in the C chromosome of A. cyaneum (Jiri Mt.). In the species with 2n=32, G chromosomes of A. thunbergii had only one pair of satellite chromosome while others were not observed. And the sizes of satellite chromosomes were same or similar.
