Analysis of adaptability of rice varieties in Gyongnam area

In terms of adaptation analyses the characterization of 28 rice varieties was made by using data on the data collected by the Rural Guidance Office in Gyeongnam Province. The growth of rice were categorized into four different cultural conditions in three sites. Regression coeffecients of characters to yield were computed for all varieties in each site and in each cultural system. Mean squares of variety, environment and variety x environment were highly significant. Taebaegbyeo, Suweon #333 and Iri #377 were found to be better adaptable to the seaside, plain and hilly sites, and Iri #377 and Milyang #83 to both one and two-crop cultural systems. Samgangbyeo, Suweon #333 and Iri #377 were found to be better adaptable to heavy fertilizer and late-transplanting conditions, and Samgangbyeo, Suweon #333, Milyang #83, Taebaegbyeo and Milyang #82 showed higher stability by showing higher regression coeffecients.
