Effects of growth characters on lodging of soybean and their genetic analysis Ⅱ. Diallel cross analysis of growth characters related to lodging

The diallel cross analysis were applied to evaluate the genetic values of the growth characters related to lodging in soybean. The growth characters concerned in the experiment were stem length, stem diameter, number of branch, LAI and root dryweight. Diallel corss analysis by Vr-Wr graph showed that stem diameter and root dryweight were controlled by incomplete dominant genes, LAI and number of branch by over dominant genes and stem length by complete dominant genes. According to variance component analysis, the average degrees of dominance were the same results as were analyzed by Vr-Wr graph. And the ratios between positive and negative alleles, were below 1 in stem length, LAI and root dryweight, and the ratio in stem length was above 1 and those in branch number was close to 1. The ratios of dominant and recessive genes were above 1 in all characters except in branch number.
