Diallel cross analysis of viviparous germination in rice

The varieties which had relatively good viviparous germination under 25℃ constant temperature were Daeseongbyeo and Baegambyeo, but poor germination varieties were Sobaegbyeo, Odaebyeo and Unbongbyeo. The general combining ability(GCA) and specific combining ability(SCA) for viviparous germination showed highly significant respectively and mean sqare values of GCA was more greater than that of SCA were studied on F₂ seeds of 10 crosses from the partial dialler cross of 5 Japonica rice varieties. In analysis of general combining ability, Daeseongbyeo and Baegambyeo showed positive effect for the viviparous germination, but Sobaegbyeo, Odaebyeo and Unbongbyeo showed negative effect. In case of gene effect for the viviparous germination additive effect was greater than dominance effect in the inheritance of the pre-harvest sprouting germination and showed partial dominance, however the average dominant effect was comparative low.
