Old references related to agriculture in Korea Ⅹ. Early References Recording Crops and Varieties, and Places of Their Preservation

More than 230 kinds of old books concerned with agriculture were published in the Chosun-dynasty(Yi-dynasty) of Korea. Variety names and their characteristics were described on 8 kinds of cereals, 3 kinds of leguminous crops, 4 kinds of special crops, 16 kinds of vegetables, 16 kinds of fruit trees, and 10 kinds of ornamental plants, etc., in 17 different old books published from 1429 to 1927, respectively. Among those old publicaitons, Nongsa Jikseol published in 1429, Yanghwarok published in 1449-64, Kumyang-Japrok published in 1492, Sanlim-Kyungje published in 1700 ?, Junbgo-Sanlim-Kyungje published in 1766, Kosasinseou published in 1771, Haedong-Nongseou published in 1798-99, and Yimwoun-Kyungjeji published in 1842-45 are very important original publications, and also could be worthful references to recognized the variety differential history. Especially, total 1,039 variety names of 45 kinds of crops, vegetables, fruit trees, and ornamental plants are described in 113 volumes of Yimwoun-Kyungjeji. Many new crop and varieties were introduced to Korea in 1885, and also recognized that newly improved varieties were primarily recorded from 1925, respectively.
