Combining ability and correlation coefficient for F₁ population obtained from 6×6 diallel cross in soybeans were estimated for seven quantitative characters, i. e., days to flowering, days to maturity, stem length, branch number per plant, pod number per plant, 100-seed weight and seed weight. Mean squares of general combining ability and specific combining ability were significant for all characters observed. Mean squares of general combining ability for days to flowering, days to maturity, stem length and 100-seed weight were expressed as higher values than those of specific combining ability, but those for branch number per plant, pod number per plant and seed weight were lower. Variety Youweoldu and Ajukarikong showed the high general combining ability effects for pod number per plant and seed yield, and Bancheongdu was expressed with the highest general combining ability effect for stem length, branch number per plant, 100-seed weight and seed weight. In specific combining ability effect, hybrids between of Bancheongdu×Youweoldu and Cheongtae×Horangikong were exhibited as high specific combining ability effects for yield component and canopy characters, and higher specific combining ability effects for stem length and branch number per plant were found in hybrid between Saealkong×Ajukarikong. Heritability for days to flowering and 100-seed weight showed high values as more than 90 in percentage, and seed weight was positively correlated with stem length, branch number per plant and pod number per plant.
