Andrei Platonov is a highly unique writer, who constructs non-traditional narrative in his own unconventional style. According to researcher Aleksandr Kazarkin, Platonov’s novel can be divided into three parts: the first part reads as a buildungsroman, the second part as an “adventure novel” and the third part presents an argument or a philosophical thesis. This research focuses on the fact that the “adventure novel” that Kazarkin points out appears rather conspicuously in Platonov’s utopian novels or novellas of utopian theme. This research attempts to analyze the relation between the structural similarities and the topic in Platonov’s utopian novels using the concept of divertissement. This second part can be episodic, humorous, satirical or parodic. Various characters in this second part present their own interpretations of the concept of utopia and act out in order to realize their utopian visions. These activities comprise the second part of the Platonovian utopian works in the novelistic structure. As a part of the novelistic structure, these seemingly absurd episodes in the part of divertissement, Platonov proves to the reader that disparate understandings of the concept of utopia exist and therefore it is difficult or almost impossible to construct an ideal society based on a unified idea of the perfect world. The Platonovian divertissement structurally supports the discourse on utopia and the construction of an ideal society within the work.
