과학관 역할 및 교육에 대한 예비 과학교사와 예비 과학관전문인력의 인식 분석

Analysis of perceptions between pre-service science teachers and pre-service science museumstaff on the role of and education in science museums

본 연구의 목적은 예비 과학교사와 예비 과학관전문인력 간에 과학관 역할과 교 육에 대한 인식 차이를 조사하는 데 있다. 여러 문헌을 분석하여 과학관의 역할과 교 육에 대해 22개 문항으로 이루어진 설문지를 개발하고 예비 과학교사(49명)과 예비 과학관전문인력(30명)을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같 다. 첫째, 과학관의 역할(전시, 교육, 연구, 과학문화)에 대해 예비 과학교사와 예비 과학관전문인력의 인식은 전시(t=4.796, p<.01), 교육(t=3.291, p<.01), 연구(t=3.409, p<.01)에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 과학관 역할의 중요도에 대한 인식에서는 예비 과학교사와 예비 과학관전문인력은 교육에 대한 중요도가 낮게 나 타났다. 셋째, 과학관 교육에 대해 두 집단은 과학관 교육과 학교 과학교육의 연계성 에 대한 인식(t=4.300, p<.01)에서 차이가 있었다. 특히 학교 현장의 과학교육이 과학 관의 교육 정책에 미치는 영향(t=3.944, p<.01)에서 두 집단 간 차이가 두드러졌으며 예비 과학교사의 인식이 예비 과학관전문인력에 비해 낮았다. 따라서 다음과 같이 제언하고자 한다. 예비 과학교사를 양성하는 기관에서는 비형식 교육에 관한 과목을 개설하는 등 예비 과학교사뿐 만 아니라 현직 교사를 위한 교육을 실시할 필요가 있 다. 또한 예비 과학관전문인력을 양성하는 기관에서는 학교 교육과정의 분석과 이해 등 학교 현장의 과학교육에 대한 검토 및 교육이 요구된다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of perception between pre-service science teachers and pre-service science museum staff on the role of and education in science museums. Based on previous research reviews, we developed a 22-item Likert-type scale questionnaire on the role of and education in science museums, and conducted a survey of 49 pre-service science teachers and 30 pre-service science museum staff. From analyzing the results, we found that there were statistically significant differences about the role of science museums, especially, display(t=4.796, p<.01), research(t=3.291, p<.01), and education(t=3.409, p<.01) between the two groups. Also, both groups had a lack of perception of the importance of educational roles of science museums. Lastly, there was a difference in the perception of the connection to school education(t=4.300, p<.01), particularly whether school education had an effect on the policy of science museums(t=3.944, p<.01). Overall, the responses of pre-service science museum staff were higher than pre-service science teachers. Therefore, a curriculum about the informal education is needed for pre- and in-service science teachers and science museums need to provide professional programs including the pedagogy and the school curriculum for pre- and in-service science museum staff.
